Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for £65million.

Now it would appear that manager Antonio Conte has turned his attentions to bolstering his striking options after missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and informing Diego Costa that his services won’t be required for next season.

According to the Daily Mirror, the reigning Premier League champions are set to admit defeat in their attempts to sign Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata but remain confident of beating rivals Liverpool to the signature of Aubameyang.
In addition, the report states that Dortmund are resigned to losing the Gabon international, who netted more goals than any other player in the Bundesliga last season– pipping Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski to the Golden Boot award in the process.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored 31 goals in the Bundesliga during 2016/17; the most ever managed by a foreign player in a single season. Should Aubameyang complete a move to Stamford Bridge, then it’s understood that the Bundesliga outfit will turn their attentions to Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as a direct replacement and have been told he will cost in the region of £35m.
